Even though I have mentioned that Seattle is where I want to settle someday (read my blog here), I feel blessed to be living in SoCal. It is ultimately the best place to raise children, in my humble opinion. With so many theme parks, national parks, museums and activities to take your kids to, it’s totally impossible to run out of things to do and explore. There’s also an overabundance of beautiful beaches all throughout, and this is one of the main reasons why most people move here.
Ready to bask in the splendor of Seattle? It’s our favorite city not just in the US, but in the world. Period. This is where my wife and I plan on staying in the future and our first blog post is actually about Why We Want To Move To Seattle.
Yes, it is a city, an urban jungle, but it’s not as chaotic as Manhattan, NY. The endless beauty of mountain views and charming gardens all scattered throughout balance out the busy lifestyle in the city. We’ve been to Seattle about three times, the first couple of times it was just me and my wife, and the third time we took our son with us. We plan on going back soon so our daughter can see and appreciate what Seattle is all about.
I now understand why people go to Miami in December. While everyone is freezing, one can enjoy that Sunny skies with a high of 75 degrees in the pristine white sand of Miami Beach. My wife and I visited the Magic City to escape the Winter blues and here are the top things I recommend for a fun, short stay.
Nowadays, you hear most people say Santorini is on top of their bucket list. And I can’t blame them, Santorini is one of the most exquisite places I’ve seen. Thanks to social media, people are getting more exposed to the most beautiful places our generation has ever seen. Gone are the days when catching a glimpse of famous destinations means, reading about them in magazines, books, getting post cards from family and friends, or watching television specials about them. Now you can simply go to Google or social networking sites and see amazing places shared by people from around the world.
When my cousin sent us an invite for her wedding in the Philippines, we got excited that our son Parker will have the chance to meet some of our relatives in the PI. This was also the perfect opportunity to show my then two-year old the beauty of the tropical islands. My wife and I were originally planning on visiting Palawan but we decided that tons of island hopping might be too much for our toddler.
The Philippines is an archipelago made of up more than 7,000 islands, and it is world renowned for the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever see. After going back and forth deciding which island to visit, we agreed to Bohol, which is one of the main islands in the Central Visayas Region. We wanted to do a lot of sight seeing and enjoy kid-friendly activities and Bohol fits the bill. During this trip, we also decided to hire a tour guide which made our vacation much more fun and relaxing.
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of Venice Beach as it’s one of the most popular beaches in Los Angeles, but do you know about Venice Canals? It’s a peaceful and charming neighborhood about 15 miles East of Downtown LA. Whenever you want to take a break from the activities at the beach or just want to get away from all the craziness of Los Angeles, I highly recommend taking a morning or afternoon stroll in Venice Canals.
So you have finally decided to visit Kiwiland and I’m sure you’re looking forward to seeing the vast array of landscapes and long miles of beaches that are very unique to this country. Every vacation needs to have some basic preparation; knowing what to expect can save you from confusion and allow you to focus more on creating memorable experiences in this breathtaking country. Before you get too excited planning how to explore Middle Earth, here are some important things I wish I knew before our NZ trip.
Our first trip to Seattle back in October 2013 was the first time my wife and I went on a vacation after having our first born child… so this was quite special. We instantly fell in love with it mostly because of the weather. It is rainy and gloomy - the perfect weather for us. We have talked about moving here numerous times because we just felt we belong here. We took our son with us on one of our trips back here a few years ago. This time we checked out some of Seattle’s real estate as the thought of moving in this city gives us some sort of buzz. Maybe some day we will move here. When the kids are all grown up, I see myself living here and enjoying the gloomy, rainy weather of this city. For now, I can only share with you some reasons why Seattle has become our favorite. |
